Draft Order
The season officially kicks off with the ceremonious draft order drawing out of the hat by our very own Harry Richter. Preceding this draw, the winner of the ‘Toilet Bowl’ is allowed to pick their draft position. [See “Toilet Bowl” below].
2023 Toilet Bowl Champion: Jack England
2024 Toilet Bowl Champion: Angelo Prosceno
Keepers
The intention of a keeper league is to avoid people trading away stars at the end of the season for no reason, but also to allow legacies to be built within SFGL. Owners may keep a maximum of 4 players each season.
Keeper Decisions Cut-Off
If a manager elects to keep a player for the following season, they must make their election 2 weeks before draft day. This allows the commissioner to set the draft settings properly, and also allows managers to get a preseason look at their player’s near future. It conversely adds a bit of pre-season chance, where the player may end up getting hurt before the season starts. (welcome to fantasy football).
Inaugural Draft Season
For the inaugural draft (Fall 2023), NO PLAYERS will be kept from the ‘22-’23 season. Managers will draft with the intention of strategically picking players that may boost their legacy in future seasons.
Drafted Player Keepers
Players drafted in rounds 4-16 are eligible to be kept for the following season. To eliminate pure legacy, the draft position of a “Drafted Keeper” will be 3 rounds earlier than the previous season.
Ex. Drafted player in Round 5 of 2023, can be kept as the Round 2 pick of 2024.
Ex. Drafted player in Round 3 of 2023, can NOT be kept in 2024.
Waiver Keepers
Any player added purely from waivers may be kept, as the manager's 10th round pick in the following year. If the 10th round pick is already filled with a keeper slot directly from draft position, they must take the waivered player in the 9th round. If said draft slot is also filled, the process will repeat until an empty slot is available.
By dropping a player into the pool of waivers, anyone may pick the player back up if available, and if elected to be a keeper in the successive season will respect the rules of the Drafted Player Keeper.
Ex. This eliminates managers from dropping a player and picking them back up to better their “keeper” status for said player, as well as swiping keepers that have been OUT FOR SEASON for a 10th round draft spot.
Traded Keepers
If a player is acquired through a trade, and the manager elects to keep them for the following season, they will take on the keeper status from the previous owner (same as Drafted Player Keeper rules)
Ex. Team A drafts a player in Round 7 of 2023, trades to Team B. Team B can keep the player in the Round 4 of 2024.
Ex. Team A drafts a player in Round 2 of 2023, trades to Team B. Team B can NOT keep the player in 2024.
Ex. Team A picks up a player off of waivers in 2023, trades to Team B. Team B can keep the player in Round 10 of 2024.
Successive Keepers
Managers may elect to keep a player for multiple successive seasons, as long as they still have availability in their draft position.
Ex. Player is drafted in Round 12 of 2023. Managers can keep the player in Round 9 of 2024, again in Round 6 of 2023, and again in Round 3 of 2024.
Trades
Any trade, regardless of draft pick, is now an acceptable trade given the keeper structure.
Waiver Budget
We will continue the $200 fake money budget for 2024/2025, but eventually we shall decide upon instituting a real money budget into play.
Playoffs
Championship
The championship bracket will be composed of the top 6 players of the regular season. Playoffs last 3 weeks, with the 1st and 2nd place teams of the regular season getting a bye to the semi-final. Each round is 1 week so prove your worth.
Toilet Bowl
The Toilet Bowl is to be defined as the winner of the losers [“Out of Playoffs: Consolation Bracket]. Winner of the toilet bowl gets to pick their draft position for next year.
(this is designed to help eliminate people from tanking their season at the end of the year, and gives them an opportunity to bounce back)
Kicker Battle
Those who end up in the competition of said year’s playoff loser will proceed by setting only their kicker as active for the final playoff battle, last place game, worst of the worst. If one has completely given up, it is in the commissioners right to hard-set the lineups for this match. This battle is purely for pride in one’s kicker, and has no result on “loser” designation for the year.
OFFICIAL LAST PLACE
He who ends the regular season with the lowest record will be deemed the “loser” of said season. Tiebreaker goes to he who has scored less points during regular season, as the new crowned loser.
Buy In
Buy-in for the season is determined on a year-by-year basis, ideally increasing to strengthen the pot and give a chance for people to make their money back from previously shit years.
2025/2026: $100
2024/2025: $100
2023/2024: $75
2022/2023: $50
2021/2022: $50
2020/2021: No buy in ($$ spent to buy Championship Belt)
Awards
It is a SFGL trademark of the league to not only reward the champion, but also reward those who had incredible performances throughout the regular season.
Weekly Best Payout
For each week in the regular season, he with the highest scoring team will be awarded $10 at the end of the season for his achievement. There is no limit to how many weeks one may be awarded this, other than the amount of weeks of that season.
We will use a 14 week regular fantasy football season, meaning $140 of the league balance will be allocated toward this. Remaining weeks are playoff weeks, where no “best week” is awarded.
Champions Payout
From the remaining league balance [TOTAL-$140], will result in the champions payout. 2nd and 3ʳᵈ place will also receive a cut of the money.
The payment has been designed so that the third place player “breaks even” from their initial buy in, 2nd place double’s their money, and 1st place takes the big kahuna. Payouts are as follows, for a now $100 buy in.
1st: $560
2nd: $200
3ʳᵈ: $100
+Weekly Payouts: $140 total
Championship Belt
The crowning achievement, the championship belt shall be sent from the previous year’s winner to the newly crowned champion.
Punishment
This has been a heavily debated topic, and suggestions are always open for future pursuits of punishment. But as it stands, he who has been crowned “loser” will inevitably have to rep the “I suck at Fantasy Football” license plate cover until the next loser has been determined.
2024-2025: Spend 24 hours at your local Denny's/IHOP, every short stack eaten reduces 1 hour from your time there.
2023-2024: Build the Fantasy Football Website
2020-2023: Rep the “I Suck at Fantasy Football License Plate”
League Voting
Voting on rules will commence via a pre-season facetime call with all parties of the league. Those who do not participate in the call will revoke their rights to voting. The call will be scheduled to allow for all players to be available.
